Robinson Family Session | Autumn Wonderland

"Family should be the place where you can be your most complete self. Where you're accepted and appreciated, seen and valued, even in moments of disagreement. It should be your soft place to fall, the place where you're reminded that no matter what happens to you, in the face of your deepest challenges, you are loved,"

I had the great joy of spending an afternoon with this sweet family. It’d been a long time since I got to have so much fun during a session; laughter and smiles were abound as I witnessed memories being made in front of me—including a leaf throwing battle for the history books!

There’s something magical about seeing a parents love for their children in every look, sigh, and smile that’s given. It’s a good reminder to not take your loved ones for granted. And how precious love really is.

Because when I look at you, I can feel it. And I look at you and I’m home.

Mary & Shane | Glamorous West Virginia Wedding

Shane and Mary are dear friends of mine and my husband’s from college and when they asked me to take their engagement photos I was stoked. And then they asked me to do their wedding photos and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to help capture their day.

And what a beautiful day it was.

Equally as elegant as it was fun-loving, laughter and smiles were practically bursting at every corner.

With a traditional ceremony lightly tailored with their own personal touches, Shane and Mary were married at Mary’s family’s church in the presence of their loved ones. After vows and hugs and photos, the couple ran with an impulse and stole away to McDonald’s for a breather and a burger between festivities. (Sorry, Moms, it was crucial. We promise…)

After their brief retreat, we arrived at the reception held at the Edgeworth Club where friends and family relaxed in between photos and dinner.

Midway through the reception Shane shared a gift with Mary that he’d been working on as a surprise—an original electronic music piece that or may not have rocked some floorboards lose with the bass levels…in spite of the minor earthquake, the song was a hit and brought smiles to every face, none more so than Mary and Shane as they looked forward to the rest of their time together in the many years to come.

In a flurry of toasts and cheers, music and dancing, the night wiled itself away into a sleepy haze of a dream as everyone wandered to their beds after a joyous day of love and celebration.
