Mikayla & Mason |

As longtime friends from college, I was so very excited to capture Mason and Mikayla’s day for them and flattered when they asked me to. Just knowing how kind and fun they’re personalities are, I knew the day would be one for the books!

The wedding took place at their family church, a lovely building tucked away in the deep woods of West Virginia. We gathered with their family and friends to celebrate the love these two share, bride and groom tucked away in their respective hideouts waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Mikayla and her mother had a quiet moment to themselves as Mother of the Bride helped her daughter into her gown as her bridesmaids eagerly waited outside the room in the still hallway.

The ceremony was sweet and loving and full of intentionality just like Mason and Mikayla. More than a few tears fell as she made her walk to her future husband, who enthusiastically waited for his bride at the aisles end.

Afterwards the bride, groom, and guests convened for food and dancing and all the fun that’s to be had as the newlyweds rung in the first of what would be many wonderful days as husband and wife. With mother-son and father-daughter dances that tugged on every heartstring, speeches that bubbled with giggles and friendship, and joy in the air so heavy you could touch it, Mikayla and Mason ended the night with a sparkling exit as their loved ones sent them off full of well wishes and love.

Savannah | Autumn & Summer Senior Portraits

July, 2020

July, 2020

Savannah’s senior pictures were meant to be taken in autumn and then again in the winter of 2019, to get some photos in the snow, but the weather didn’t cooperate for us. Then quarantine happened and it looked like we were never going to get to shoot the second half of her session. We kept trying though and in July of 2020--8 months later--we met up and closed out her final year of high school with memorable photos on a beautiful summer day. I think it was well worth the wait.

Noah | Graduation Portraits

Fun fact: The pineapple is not only a nod to his degree in hospitality but also a reference to the TV show Psych!

I took Noah’s photos back in May and sadly forgot to share them until now (I know, I know). But! better late than never, as I frequently find myself saying more and more…

Since he wasn’t able to traditionally graduate we wanted to do something fun to remember this time, and that while circumstances aren’t ideal, his—and every graduates—hard work still deserves to be celebrated and captured to look back on in the years to come.

Because there was no typical ceremony, he didn’t have his own cap and gown but rather chose to wear his sibling’s robes from their past graduations during his portrait session. The following results are definitely memorable, hilarious, and oh-so unique to who he is. Also he brought doughnuts. That’s an automatic win.
